No Classic Holiday collection should be without this joyous tale. It stars a devine Cary Grant,a lovely Loretta Young, and a “doubting” David Niven.

As Christmas approaches, Bishop Henry Broughm is feeling the pressure of raising money to build a Cathedral. The money is out there, a wealthy woman has volunteered to contribute what’s needed to complete the task. But…there’s a catch….it must be done her way..and Henry must decide whether to accept and put his principles aside or decline and have no Cathedral. He is so preoccupied with this problem that Julia, his wife feels she is losing him. Henry prays for guidance…and it arrives..in the form of one dapper angel…”Dudley”.

Dudley has got his work cut out for him with this asignment. Henry is a tough case. But along the way of trying to enlighten the Bishop of the joys of life(not to mention all the hungry people the money could feed),Dudley, played by Cary Grant touches the lives of all those around him. Most of the women are simply in awe of his prescence(I would be too!),an aging history scholar(played impeccably by Monty Woolley)finds a renewed zest for life and even a cynical cab driver is reformed by the mere prescence of Dudley. But can Dudley get through to Henry in time to restore his wonderful marriage to Julia?….Can even an Angel resist the charms of Loretta Young? You’ll be smiling all the way through this touching, classic Christmas story finding out.

The supporting cast are legends in their own rights…As I mentioned Monty Woolley get touched by this angel as does James Gleason, Gladys Cooper and Elsa Lanchester. It is directed by Henry Coster.

The DVD, although not as prsiteen as some other films of this era(“Casablana”, “It’s A Wonderful Life”),presented a nice picture of this 56 year old film. I thought the Black and White images were sharp and clear. Not quite as bright as the others, but an enjoyable view none the less. The sound does need to be turned up quite a bit more than usual, but the dialouge always distinguishable and the beautiful music added greatly to the story. The DVD gives the choice of “Chace Stereo” or the original mono.I viewed it in the ‘Chace’, and my DVD decoded it in Digital 1.0).There is an origianl theatrical trailer which is actually fun to watch. And..if you think the film transfer is not the greatest, compare it to this trailer….what a difference. It may be viewed in French and Spanish, and also has subtitles in those languages as well…but no subtitles or captions in English for those that might need them..this classic should be made for all to enjoy! For this reason alone, I am going with 4 stars(instead of 5) for the package.

A Classic Christmas story that’s great to watch anytime of the year!……enjoy….Laurie

This genlte film, based on Robert Nathan’s fine story, has the warmth of a cup of hot cider by the fireplace during a cold December day. There is something quiet and magical about it, like the hush of the world when it snows. Cary Grant and Loretta Young are a joy to watch together, their easy chemistry as welcome as popcorn balls and candy canes.

Directed by Henry Koster, with some nice photography from Gregg Toland, the screenplay by Robert E. Sherwood and Leonardo Bercovici captures perfectly the sentimental fantasy feel of all Robert Nathan’s fine work. Cary Grant convinced producer Samuel Goldwyn to let him portray the role of Dudley rather than the bishop, and after seeing this film, it would be difficult to imagine it any other way.

Cary Grant always made everything look easy, but just how much work went into that illusion is exemplified by this film. Before shooting began, Grant could not ice skate, play the harp, or speak any French. By the time “The Bishop’s Wife” was finished shooting, he could do all three. It was truly an accomplishment of heavenly preportions. The film itself was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Picture, and received another nomination for Best Director.

Henry Brogham (David Niven) is a newly appointed Episcopalian bishop trying to secure funds for a big cathedral he wants to build. He is selling out little by little to the demands of Mrs. Hamilton (Gladys Cooper), who helped get him his appointment and has the money he needs to make his dream come true. But he has forgotten about his wife’s happiness in his quest to build the massive church, and when he prays for direction from God, he gets more than he bargained for.

Cary Grant is the Angel, Dudley, who’s been sent to help out. Cars stop for him and he knows the name of everyone he meets before they tell him. Dudley is quiet and charming, and very handsome. He has an easy way about him that makes everyone happy. Henry’s maid, Matilda (Elsa Lanchester), is taken with him and he has a gentle effect on everyone he comes in contact with. Henry is not as ecstatic about Dudley, however, since one of those people is his neglected wife, Julia (Loretta Young).

Young looks beautiful framed by Gregg Toland’s soft focus photography, and is marvelous as the sweet woman who misses the time Henry spent with she and their daughter, Debby (Karolyn Grimes), before he obtained his appointment. Dudley and Julia begin to enjoy the small and wonderful things a couple in love should share together, while Henry continues to fret over the cathedral. Henry has forgotten that he prayed for guidance, not a big church.

It is snowing all through this film, and there are many sweet moments between Dudley and Julia. Just the simple pleasure of a walk down the street and having lunch at a familiar place are given back to Julia, as she is made to feel appreciated again. She finally splurges and buys the hat she’s been staring at through the shop window for weeks. It is a moment of self-worth, restored by Dudley’s attention. There is a magical ice-skating scene as Dudley makes it possible for Julia to glide like an old hand over the ice.

There is humor as well, Dudley making Debby’s snowballs hit their mark. He also gives Sylvester (James Gleason), the cab driver, the ability to skate. Dudley explains to Julia that the only people who grow old are those who are born old, but if you are born young, you will stay that way. Dudley and Julia restore Sylvester’s faith in people.

Dudley’s gentle effect on people, however, is not limited to Julia. His visit to Mrs. Hamilton will reveal a secret love from her past and change her plans for Henry’s cathedral. His visit with Julia’s friend, Professor Wutheridge (Monty Woolley), will inspire him to write his book and understand what he could not before. And all the time he is spending with Julia and Debby may make Henry angry enough to realize what is really important, if it is not too late.

There is a tender charm to this heartwarming classic. You will find yourself smiling a lot while watching it. Some nice music by Hugo Friedhofer and the Mitchell Boychoir add to a very special atmosphere. “The Bishop’s Wife” is a reminder that it is people that matter, not a building, and the charity we give, should always begin at home, with those we love. It is a wonderful message we can heed all year long.

I stumbled onto this show by accident, and it was already well the sixth episode, but I taped it and got hooked instantly. I was brutally dissapointed–and I wasn’t the only one, either–when the series was taken off the air just as quickly as it premiered, but Cartoon Network had the good taste to snatch it up and add it to Toonami. Now it’s finally here to enjoy on DVD, and it looks great. Bandai deserves a lot of praise for releasing this as a dual DVD, and including the original “Yoroiden Samurai Troopers” episodes too. The voice-acting for the Japanese cast is good, but the American dub is very well done in my opinion. Matt Hill,(Ryo) Ward Perry,(Rowen) Jason Grey-Stanford,(Kento) and Michael Donovan (Sage/Cye) are all excellent in their respective roles.

I first saw this on Fox when I was in about fifth grade at unholy hours of the morning, and like many, I guess I just became quite hooked. I still haven’t run into anything quite like it, and really enjoyed seeing the series again.

It’s not -the best-, but the animation is still quite good, as is the music (Well, in -my- opinion), and the storyline. However, something that I found rewatching it was that the dubbed version isn’t as good as I remember it, and is actually kind of cheesey, and perhaps inflates certain qualities of the characterization. In the subtitled version, however, I found there to be more depth to the dialogue (though I admit I couldn’t keep from laughing at the mentions of Arago’s awesome powers of doom XD and the soldiers of doom, and etc), and the characterization seems overall a lot better and their emotions seem a lot more genuine.

The idea has kind of been done ^^; but I still feel it’s unique, and a breath of fresh air, and it still remains one of my favourites.

Don’t get me wrong, Dumbo is a great movie for kids and adults, one of Disney’s greatest films but everything went wrong in this SO CALLED “Big Top Edition”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dumbo! Click Here

First of all, it isn’t even a 2-disc set!

Most of the old “60th Anniversary Edition” bonus features are put on this DVD taking out some of the making, Dumbo II preview, and a music video. I do not understand Disnet AT ALL!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dumbo! Click Here

The new transfer IMO is WORSE then the “60th Anniversary Edition” It has no life to it, it is darker and very dull. Also you are losing 30% of the film do to an overscan! This movie was already filmed in fullscreen why do a pan and scan job to a fullscreen DVD? Come on Disney, you get enough money!

You really need this quick buck?

If you already have the “60th Anniversary Edition” DVD please stick with it! You get to see the WHOLE movie in full and the colors are brighter and you have ALL the great bonus features!

Dumbo is a cinematic milestone and masterpiece of family entertainment. The storyline and characters are well rounded enough (just) to entertain adults and older children and the quality of the animation both holds children’s attention and enables them to empathise with the principle characters. In addition, the moral of the story is well presented without being clumsily overstated as in much modern animation.

Both my children have frequently watched this DVD (which first came out (without extras) in Europe in 1999) since they were one and both enjoy it imensely.

I’m both astonished and disturbed that anyone could deem this movie unsuitable for children but can only assume they come from the same group of people who banned Robin Hood books from schools for being ‘pro communist’ and Shakespeare for being ‘too explicit’!

The ‘drunken scene’ is funny, brief and discrete (all you see is the shadows of characters through canvas). As to fast forwarding through the dream sequence for the kids’ benefit because it is ‘too long’ that is verging on irresponsible. All doing so teaches a child is that it’s OK to have a short attention span and to zoom through films to the ‘interesting bits’. Perhaps I was wrong though and the moral of the story has been hidden too deeply “Persevere – Don’t Give Up” is lost on some people.

There’s really no reason to go into describing The Matrix Trilogy. Unless you lived under a rock for the past ten years, The Matrix is one of the most original and influential Science Fiction films of recent memory. Starring Keanu Reeves and directed by The Wachowski Brothers (who recently gave us the live-action Speed Racer film), this tale of computers taking over the reality of the human race and a small group of survivors in constant battle to win back their independence, successfully blasted it’s way through theatres between the years of 1999 thru 2003. Complete with two theatrical sequels and one direct-to-video animated film called “The Animatrix”, it was THE complete tale to own on DVD. Each film was released separately on the format as two-disc sets complete with somewhat bloated extras (The first and animated releases keep the extras on the film disc). But back in 2004, Warner Bros. released the “Ultimate Matrix Collection”, a whopping ten disc collection featuring a brand new transfer of the first film and even more behind-the-scenes footage. But at a steep price of $52.00, for someone that really just wanted the movies, it wasn’t all that practical. Now Warner Bros has introduced The Matrix to it’s “4 Film Favorites” line, and the result is a great buy for the fan that just wants the films but at a more reasonable price.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Matrix Collection: 4 Film Favorites! Click Here

Let me explain what you exactly get here. Housed in one original sized keepcase with a leaf in the middle to separate the two discs inside, each disc is a DVD-18, otherwise known as “dual-sided/dual-layed”. Imagine if you took say The Matrix DVD and glued/attached it’s label side to the label side of the first movie disc of The Matrix Reloaded. Then did the same thing to Disc One of Matrix Revolutions and the single disc of The Animatrix. That’s pretty much what this set is. Each side is an EXACT, down to the bitrate quality, copy of the original release as it was when first released. Same menus, video/audio, Disc One extras, and all. Nothing has been changed except there’s no picture label side now. Sure, the Disc Two’s of Reloaded/Revolutions are absent now, but for under $12, and if you only want the movies that still are presented in their original Anamorphic Widescreen video, this for the tight-walleted film fans out there that never bothered to buy these films in the first place is truly the best way to go.

If the set has any cons, the first film is from 1999 DVD master, and while it’s okay, it’s still nowhere near the quality of the 2004 remaster that for Standard Definition discs is still exclusive to the Ultimate boxset. The transfers on the other three films here DO match in quality since they all were shot digitally to begin with, so one out of three isn’t all that bad. Also, in order to give two full dual-layered presentations on just one disc, they HAVE to be dual-sided, otherwise known as “flippers”. With flippers, each side is untouchable so to not get unwanted scratches on either side, you have to be more careful with them than a single-sided disc with it’s label side that can be handled much easier.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Matrix Collection: 4 Film Favorites! Click Here

In conclusion, if you never bothered in buying either the individual releases or the high-priced boxset, this 4 Film Favorites set for the cost and space-saving is an excellent deal. Other than losing a bonus disc of features that you probably would watch just once anyway, you get the whole Matrix for the cost of just one tiny little red pill.

(RedSabbath Rating:8.5/10)

There’s no reason to spend more money on the Matrix Box Set unless you want all of the additional footage from behind the scenes ETC. This has ONLY the movies and that was good enough for me. In my opinion though, only the first Matrix is worth watching more than once. The 2nd and 3rd one are flashy with effects but the stories suck. There were no problems with the discs. Buy this if you just want the movies!

“Unforgiven” is much more than a breathtaking Western, it’s an amazing film altogether. With elements of drama and film noir, this is a picture that shows us that there are some demons you can never put to rest, no matter how hard you try.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Unforgiven! Click Here

Clint Eastwood stars as William Munny, a once notorious and violent killer and thief. If Munny didn’t like you, chances were that you wouldn’t live long enough for him to tell you so. However, that was in the old days. Now, he’s just a quiet and tired farmer who is a devoted father still in mourning of his dead wife. He’s been straight for years and is trying to put all of his demons to rest, but you still get the feeling that no matter how hard he tries, he will always be haunted. An opportunity comes to him in the name of `The Schofield Kid.’ He gives him a chance to be his partner and have him help on a bounty. Knowing that the money could help his family out, Munny finally decides to take the Kid up on the offer. He also brings with him Ned Logan; an old friend and partner. Little Bill Daggett is the Sheriff in town, and the thing he hates most are assassins. He will do anything in his power to take care of them and make sure they do not succeed on their killing. The last remaining part of the film stands out the most and is so well executed that it catches you off guard.

This really is a great film and it surprised me like I would’ve never expected. I don’t like Westerns all that much, but this isn’t your typical Western. That is probably why I enjoyed it so much. There is so much story and character development. You really are able to sympathize with Munny, despite his dark and violent past. You want him to be able to get on with his life and forget the past, although you know deep down that things will never be put to rest, and agreeing to go on this bounty only increases the chance of Munny returning back to his old ways. This isn’t a Western where the line between good guys and bad guys are clear and the storyline is simple; good guy kills bad guys and gets the girl in the end. No, you won’t find any of this here. In this story there are no clear good guys or bad guys, just regular people. This is a real story with real characters that you can feel for. There is a huge issue of morality that takes place, which is something you don’t see much in Westerns.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Unforgiven! Click Here

Not only does Eastwood do a terrific job in acting, he also does an amazing job as director. He’s a man with vision, and who more qualified to direct a film of this magnitude. I don’t think the film would had been as successful had it been done by someone else. The cast is also outstanding. Morgan Freeman really does his role justice. Gene Hackman spreads fear inside of you as the mean and tough Sheriff. Richard Harris also deserves mention for his part as well. (He is sorely missed. He was a very gifted actor.) Everyone really did great in their roles and really knew how to bring the film together.

This new DVD edition really does the movie justice. Though it may not have the most special features, the one feature that stands out the most is the new digital transfer that really makes the picture look crystal clear. The sound is also very impressive as well. Special features included are as follows: Audio commentary by Film Critic and Eastwood Biographer Richard Schickel, Eastwood film highlights, awards list, trailer, and 4 documentaries.

“Unforgiven” is really a spectacular film that deserved the Academy Awards for “Best Picture” and “Best Director.” And it is a true masterpiece in my eyes. I think anyone who is a lover of films should give this one a try. Remember, you do not have to be a Western fan to enjoy this, because I am certainly not one. Some people may be disappointed in the lack of action or shoot-outs, but the film is about so much more. It’s about morals and trying to put the past to rest. It’s also about accepting who you are and that there are some things you will never be able to change, no matter how hard you try. This will end up being one of my favorites in no time. I was very surprised, indeed.

Unforgiven is clearly among the top westerns ever made. This movie is simple, dark and yet highly complex in its superb script and the outstanding performances by all concerned. Few westerns will draw you into the lead characters as this one does. Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and the sorely missed Richard Harris all deserved awards for their collective performances. What is a western without Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman!

The premise:

Welcome to Big Whiskey Wyoming, where in a small “billiards” saloon, a cowboy gets angry at a whore and, with the help of his buddy, cuts her face up. The other “women” of the establishment, pool their money and start telling everybody that they’re offering a reward to whoever kills these two young cowboys. This is precipitated by Gene Hackmans character Little Bill, who essentially doesn’t punish them for their crime.

Clint Eastwood plays William Munny, who in his earlier days was every bit one of the worst, meanest gunslingers in the west. Some ten years prior to the events at the beginning of this fine film, William Munny met his wife Claudia, who turned this serious gunslinger into a family man, unfortunately for him and his little children, his wife died three years prior. He is now a poor pig farmer, with two little children.

The son of one of his old riding buddies has heard about this reward and seeks out William Munnys assistance in tracking down these unpunished criminals. After some hesitation, he seeks out his friend Ned, played by Morgan Freeman, one of the finest actors of our day. The three of them head north to seek out the reward.

What follows is clearly a movie that while, for the better part is melodramatic; it is that melodrama that is gripping. All those who received accolades for this fine film, richly deserved those accolades.

This exceptional film that graced the silver screen so beautifully and then the home theater, deserves a hallowed place on ones DVD rack and is perfectly well suited to repeated viewings. I highly recommend this masterpiece to any and all, even those who may not find themselves interested in westerns will find this film highly compelling. {ssintrepid}

I can’t get enough of this guy! Why he doesn’t get more work I’ll never know. The scene in the park, when both have eyes closed and he says “Come with me” and takes her hand…..I melted like ice cream on a hot day! Takes me back to my favorite scene in “Moonstruck (Deluxe Edition)” during the opera. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is I felt it needed a “love scene.” It would have given me a chance to see Vartan with his shirt off! Final words: it ended with my favorite song! If you’ve ever been in love, you HAVE to see this movie.

I read all the reviews of this movie before writing mine. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I’ve watched it at least 50 times and it makes me cry each time. I know, I’m a hopeless romatic and probably a total fool, but this movie is so sweet. I think Michael Vartan (!!) and Natasha Henstridge have chemistry that works in this movie. I also like the subplot of Henry and Tracy and them not knowing their best friends are the ones who are getting married to people they are not suited for. Maybe the writing and editing are poor, I’m not educated to comment in that area, but the movie is funny in many parts, depicting typical New York snobs such as the salesperson at Bulgari. The fact that they fall in love during the weekend they are both planning their weddings to other people is a fun twist. They do “the right thing” by not being together until they break up with their respective intendeds. Unlike most real life. Maybe love at first sight isn’t smart or lasting or whatever, but remember – IT’S A MOVIE! It’s for entertainment value, and I feel entertained each time I watch it. I like the music and wish I could find the soundtrack to buy. I have watched this movie with two of my guy friends, and both of them cried, although not as much as I did. The part that always gets me is at the end when they are in the park, pretending to fly to Europe and then she says she can’t do it. Notice the look on Michael’s face as the camera fades away…then the song…”have you ever loved somebody so much it made you cry?” Yes, I have. Yes, I do. Enjoy this movie for what it is, fun, romantic, with a (thankfully) happy ending.

I bought this collection at the same time I bought the “Atomic Bomb Collection”. I found these two packages to be very complimentary. While the “Atomic Bomb Collection” contained documentaries focusing on nuclear weapons development and testing that were intended for general audiences (very good, by the way), this collection contains documentaries prepared by the US government as technical briefings for military and other government personnel. They provide a lot of interesting information, although it is likely to be a little more technical than some may prefer. But anyone with a high school level understanding of science can easily follow what’s presented.

Buy,Download, Or Stream America’s Atomic Bomb Tests – The Collection! Click Here

One will learn a lot about nuclear weapons and their effects from these films. Personally, I found them fascinating, and I’m sure I will watch them again to improve my understanding and address new questions that may arise in my mind. For those interested in science, Cold war history, or technological development, I recommend these films highly.

p.s.: The documentaries are from the late 50′s, and they are presented in the style that was common in those days. That, in and of itself, is an interesting look back for the historian.

This DVD is a great complement to the DVD’s offered by VCE(Trinity and Beyond, Nukes in Space, etc). By itself, it is a highly technical look at the process of testing materials, military equipment, and building materials during three atomic test series covered on the DVD set. The quality of the film varies between the three discs. The last Civil Defense video on Disc 2 suffers a lot of audio warble, unfortunately. But, it is nice to see these important historical documents preserved in a digital format.

Buy,Download, Or Stream America’s Atomic Bomb Tests – The Collection! Click Here

I’ve owned Trinity and Beyond for several years, and I really enjoy the way it is presented. But, it has to cover so many tests in a short amount of time that it skims over a lot of information about testing procedures, etc. You begin to get the impression that the military was doing these tests for their own amusement. After watching this DVD, I have a much better understanding of the entire process. It’s easy to see why the military was eager to do so many tests in the early days of the atomic weapons program. The science of the atomic bomb was a moving target, and this DVD outlines the research they made.

Though I would never like to see anyone use atomic weapons ever again, their sheer power is fascinating, beautiful, and frightening at the same time. If you are interested in the science of atomic testing, you should really take a look at this set.

All three of these DVDs have been released previously; however, this new boxed set houses a few new mildly interesting “extras” to be found in the Special Features. These three films are all big colorful MGM musicals, but none are in Widescreen because that particular aspect:ratio was not “invented” until 1954. However, they LOOK spectacular anyway!

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly Collection! Click Here

“Anchors Aweigh” (1945) is a winning musical about two sailors on shore leave in search of a “dame”. This musical’s only flaw is it is a bit too long, as it has everything but the kitchen sink thrown in it, including a whole lot (too much) of Jose Iturbi, who must have been “quite something” in 1945 (but not now)! However, it is thoroughly entertaining for both adults and children, the latter, due to a lengthy sequence in the middle of the film that pairs live action (Gene Kelly dancing) with animation. Note, this was over 40 years BEFORE “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and 20 years before “Mary Poppins”.

Both Sinatra and Kelly are excellent and Sinatra proves he can DANCE with the greatest of them! (4 1/2 out of 5 stars)

“Take Me Out to the Ballgame” (1949) is not quite as entertaining as “Anchors Aweigh”. It less colorful and has a weaker plot, but the songs and dancing are still top-notch! This is the film where Sinatra REALLY proves he can DANCE as he and Kelly charge through a song in striped suits halfway through the film. Songs like “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, “Strictly USA”, “The Right Girl For Me”, and “O’Brien to Ryan to Goldberg” add to the fun of this film. (3 1/2 out of 5 stars)

“On the Town” (1949) Simply, one of the greatest musicals ever made! This was the FIRST musical in film history to be filmed ON LOCATION, and what a location: NEW YORK CITY CIRCA 1949! If the plot sounds familiar (THREE sailors on shore leave in search of a “dame”), the musical numbers and the thrill of the Big Apple send this one right OUT of the ballpark!

Co-starring Jules Munshin, Vera-Ellen, Betty Garrett, and Ann Miller, with some of the musical sequences composed by Leonard Bernstein, and the great theme song, “New York, New York” (“a helluva town, the Bronx is Up and the Battery Down…”, not the Sinatra smash-hit song, which came way later – 1979), “On the Town” is everything a musical could and should be!

(5 out of 5 stars)

Overall rating for this DVD box set, due to the considerable strengths of “Anchors Aweigh” and “On the Town”: 5 out of 5 stars!

Warner is releasing several DVD sets featuring Frank Sinatra on the same day. This set features films starring Sinatra and Gene Kelly. The following is from the Warner Home Video press release:

The Frank Sinatra & Gene Kelly Collection features:

On the Town (1949) – Three sailors on leave in New York City have just 24 hours to take in the sights and find romance. The first musical to shoot on location, this was directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donan.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame (1949) – Sinatra and Kelly work in vaudeville in the winter and play baseball for The Wolves in the summer. A new team manager (Esther Williams) comes along and has opposite effects on the guys. Betty Garrett supplies additional comic relief.

Anchors Aweigh (1945) – A kind of dry run for “On the Town”, this time sailors Sinatra and Kelly are on leave in Los Angeles, which draws their adventures into the realm of Hollywood. The plot is just a little too cute, which was a problem with MGM musicals starting around this time.

Special features include interviews with William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, outtakes, and “When the Lion Roars” MGM documentary.

On The Town is already on DVD and in the Gene Kelly DVD Collection. The other two films were put out on DVD in 2000, thus none of these films is new to DVD.

The documentary was very well done. We enjoyed the bonus features almost more than the film itself for the people who weren’t in the main feature. I’d love to see a sequel to this, as there was so much material and so many people not covered: “Underbird” Alan Kulwicki, who started on a shoestring and won the Winston Cup Championship, only to die in a plane crash less than five months later. The Jarretts: father Ned and son Dale, both Winston Cup Champions. The Labontes: brothers Terry and Bobby, both Winston Cup Champions. The racing brothers: Benny and Phil Parsons; Rusty, Mike and Kenny Wallace; Darrell and Michael Waltrip; Kyle and Kurt Busch. And so many more. More of the pioneers of the sport. “NASCAR: The Ride Of Their Lives” is a great start, but not nearly enough.

After watching this on CMT, I knew I had to own this movie. If you love NASCAR and know the history, or don’t know a swaybar from a spoiler, you will be riveted by this movie which highlights the best times and the worst. It really pulls at your heartstrings and will impress any NASCAR novice.
